Why choose this scheme?
The Featherweight system has been developed following extensive research into the physiology of different vegetation options, so that the overall depth and weight of the green roof can be kept to a minimum. A range of Sedum species has been selected due to their capacity to tolerate the air, water and nutrient supply that is typically limited in shallow substrate depths.
Suitable for both new-build and refurbishment and compatible with most types of waterproofing system; including single ply, bitumen, hot melt, liquid applied and aluminium standing seam (N.B. Root barrier may be required).

The Specification
Blackdown Shallow-Rooted Sedum Plugs
An excellent diversity of specially selected co-habitable Sedum plug plants that are capable of sourcing their water, air and nutrient demands from the extra shallow substrate depth, including Sedum anglicum, Sedum rupestre, Sedum album and more.
Blackdown Sedum Substrate
A 45 mm deep lightweight substrate comprises a special blend of crushed recycled brick, aggregate and organic matter, engineered to provide the appropriate nutrients to the plug plants, whilst controlling the air and water supply.
Blackdown 20 Drainage Layer
Designed for use in extensive or biodiverse green roofs, this 20 mm deep profiled polyethylene drainage board offers additional water retention whilst facilitating aeration and enabling diffusion of water.
