Why choose this scheme?
The excellent coverage of the hydroplanted installation method lends itself to large-scale, industrial buildings with tight deadlines and budgets! Suitable for pitches up to 20 degrees, a variety of species provides a cost-effective solution that delivers all of the benefits expected of a green roof. A full green coverage is typically achieved in two growing seasons.
Blackdown's Hydroplanted Sedum Roof systems are suitable for both new-build and refurbishment applications, and over most types of waterproofing system, including single ply, bitumen, hot melt, liquid applied and aluminium standing seam (N.B. Root barriers may be required).

The Specification
Blackdown Sedum Vegetative Cuttings
A special selection of Sedum species (between 6 and 8), grown at our nurseries in the Blackdown Hills, are harvested to provide vegetative cuttings that are air-dried and primed prior to hydroplanting.
A cost- and time-efficient green roof installation, greening times depend upon time of year and climatic conditions, but 2 growing seasons would be typical.
Blackdown Sedum Substrate
A 70 mm deep, unique blend of natural inorganic matter is complemented with a small amount of organic matter to provide the air, water and nutrient source appropriate to the Crassulacean Acidic Metabolism of the Sedum vegetation.
Blackdown 20 Drainage Layer
Designed for use in extensive or biodiverse green roofs, this 20 mm deep profiled polyethylene drainage board offers additional water retention whilst facilitating aeration and enabling diffusion of water.
